In 2010, the Children's Museum of South Dakota (prairieplay.org) wanted a website that was as fun and immersive as the museum itself. In order to step up to this challenge, we created a lively website featuring "Create-a-Kidoodle", an interactive feature where visitors could create their own version of the museum's iconic mascot. Other interesting features would be the dynamic banner colors and background illustrations that would change based on the local weather in South Dakota, which is known to fluctuate between extremes on any given day. The temperature would affect the color of the page banners, ranging from a cool blue in freezing temperatures to a fiery red for temperatures above 80°F. The background illustrations would change based on the current weather, and the two elements would produce hundreds of unique combinations, keeping the website fun and ever-changing for both parents and children alike.

Sadly, many of these dynamic elements are no longer found on the current site. However, I do believe that the thinking behind them are well worth preserving and sharing.
